A story about Jason Toney

I started blogging on TypePad because I ran into this brother’s blog. I like his style and take on music. Would be interesting to talk to the brother in person.

A story about Herbie Hancock

Briefly met him at a local record store when I was a teen back in 1975. We took Polaroid pictures of one another. I’m not kidding. We both actually had a Polaroid camera when we met. I think it must of been some sort of promotion appearance that brought him to my local bookstore.

Why I admire Glenda B.

I just stumbled upon Glenda’s blogsite and I’m learning so much about how to get more out blogging and internet connections by reading her blog. I haven’t yet left a comment on her blog, but I plan RSS her and keep up with she’s talking about. Perhaps we’ll meet in some net space some day.

A story about Cornel West

Check out his book, “Race Matters.”

A story about Angela Yvonne Davis

Have seen her speak on several occasions and would like to know what she’s doing today.

A story about Kwame Ture

Because I was a member of the All-African Peoples Revolutionary Party, I met Kwame Ture (formerly Stockely Carmichael during the Civil Rights and Black Power era) who was a founding member of the All African Peoples Revolutionary Party. I think Kwame passed away in 1998, and though I didn’t always agree with him on certain organizational issues, I was fortunate to have met him to have worked in the same Party he was trying to build. There’s a plethora of information out about him on the net and biography was published about him a few years ago.

A story about Cornel West

I met West in San Franciso back in around 1990/91 at a Democratic Socialist meeting where Manning Marable was giving a fiery speech. West wasn’t as well groomed back then as he is now, but it was cool chatting with briefly about Christianity even though at the time I didn’t know he was a believer. I’ve also seen him in the book stores here in Sacramento a few times. His family lives here in Sacramento. It would good to take a few classes from him.

A story about bakari

As Bakari reported we met through Tribe.net, but I’ve been tracking the brother through a number of sites. I find his committment to the Mac platform impressive as a brother (I know Black Mac Users are few and far between), and his political awareness is also much to be admired. I like that he wants to inform and educate on multiple levels, cause our community needs people like that around.

BLESS IT UP! :D

Why I admire sungoddess

I first met sista through Tribe.net. Since she’s Apple user like me, I could tell she was cool. But really, sista seems like a very down to earth person who cares deeply about her people. I hope we get to meet some day at a Mac conference. We would have lots to talk about. I appreciate her keeping in touch with me.
